IF YOU CAN’T SEE IT, YOU CAN’T FIX IT

I’ve been saying this a lot lately: “If you can’t see it, you can’t fix it.” Sometimes I get frustrated, because things that seem so clear to me… Others don’t always see.

Sometimes people will ask my opinion about things. Often I will lay out a 1, 2, 3 approach. Here’s the problem, and this is what you can do to fix it. Many times my words go right over their head, or they have a blank look on their face. Sometimes they start talking about another subject altogether, like I hadn’t even spoken.

I’m becoming a minimalist both in words and opinions. I’ve even stopped myself from talking to someone if I know they won’t hear me. Why waste words? I now sit back and observe and watch what others do because many times, they’re just talking instead of being productive.

I have white counters in my kitchen. Like most of you I clean my counters at least once a day. With white counters it’s easy to see if you’ve gotten all of the crumbs and spills. Where I live the late afternoon sun comes in at just the right angle for me to see what I thought was clean, really isn’t. My counters have all sorts of things I didn’t see before the light was shed on it.

I didn’t see it, so I couldn’t clean it up.

Sometimes if I’m in a quandary I ask God to shed light on a situation so I can look at things from another angle, and sometimes I ask Him what I should be doing and patiently sit back and wait for the right moment. I ask for what I need to see.
